I am passionate in ensuring that there are opportunities for young adults with SEND
to develop skills, experience and lead independent and fulfilling lives.
I find it extremely rewarding seeing our students grow in confidence during their time
with be inspired to… and use the skills they have learned to progress and achieve
their individual goals.
I have spent much of my career as an actor and drama facilitator, working in schools
across the UK devising and delivering workshops based around pertinent issues such
as self-esteem, bullying and knife crime.
I am delighted to support be inspired to... as I committed to ensuring each individual child and young adult reaches their full potential. be inspired to... plays a vital role in providing additional resources and opportunities to young people in Gateshead and beyond.
I became a trustee for be inspired to… as I have been supporting the young people in sixth form with their social enterprise for many years - since we used to run a café from
the food technology room at school!
I am passionate about helping our students develop the skills and gain experience needed for the world of work. I enjoy helping learners make products as well as selling them at fairs and table top stalls; where it is very rewarding to see them thrive and gain confidence in communicating with customers and using money. I also like to plan social evenings for our young people on and off-site; it is lovely to see friendships blossom outside of the learning environment.
I studied Business Management at University before studying for a PGCE (Post –Compulsory Education and Training). I worked in a variety of roles within Business and Education before joining Cedars Academy as a Post 16 Teacher in 2010. Having worked to develop education and training pathways for young people with additional needs, I am passionate about ensuring that there are opportunities for young adults with SEND to progress and develop economically, socially and emotionally and to lead independent and fulfilling lives.
I began my journey at Cedars 5 years ago, working predominantly in KS5 at Walker Terrace, Gateshead. I am a trustee for be inspired to... because I am passionate about supporting learners with opportunities for work experience and programmes that will help develop their skills for future employment or training.
I am dedicated to supporting learners develop their confidence through work placements, social events and training opportunities that be inspired... to provides.
As a young person, I hugely benefitted from the support provided by the Cedars Charitable Trust through their school and college. As an adult, I am delighted to work alongside be inspired to... and to watch young people develop their confidence whilst gaining valuable life skills. I am incredibly passionate about the work we do and excited to see more young people benefit from the fantastic opportunities we provide.
My professional background and experience lies in community outreach and home-based support for young people and adults with diverse and varied physical and learning disabilities.
As a trustee for be inspired to... I am dedicated to supporting our students to develop and nurture their individual skills and strengths, in order for them to thrive and succeed along their chosen path.
I am Chief Executive of Cedars Academy. Our aim at be inspired to... is to provide a highly individualised, responsive, caring, supportive but challenging experience for all our young adults; where the promotion of resilience, physical and mental well-being are at the heart of all we do.
I aim to help create a community of learning, training and employment opportunities to prepare our young people for adulthood.....to grow to become intellectually, emotionally and socially 'Fit for Life'.
