OUR AIMS
We aim to to provide a peer led, peer delivered education and support service where people can learn from each other’s insights, skills and lived experience.
We will:
-
provide knowledge and support to young people and their families to embed preparing for adulthood from the earliest years; we work to ensure that young people with SEND achieve paid employment, independent living, housing options, good health, friendships, relationships and community inclusion
-
provide independent impartial information, advice and support to children and young people and parents/carers, living in Gateshead or neighbouring authorities, about their or their child's special educational needs
-
provide disability advocacy and advice on participation to children and young people with disabilities regarding participation in community activities and in reaching decisions about themselves
-
listen to young people to find ways of improving the services available to them; using their views to shape our work and tell others, like local providers and local authority officers, what's important to young adults
