Home-to-school transport
For eligible pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), home-to-school transport is arranged by the local authority. Cedars does not allocate routes, operate vehicles or manage transport contracts.

Applying for transport
If you live in Gateshead, apply through Gateshead Council:
If you live outside Gateshead, contact your own local authority’s transport or SEND team.
If transport is late or needs changing
For a late or missing taxi, changes to collection or drop-off arrangements, route or pass queries, or any other transport issue, contact Gateshead Council’s Home-to-School Transport team on 0191 433 4848. The Council is responsible for arranging and managing the transport service.

Absence and address changes
Please tell the school and the transport team if your child is absent, so that transport does not arrive unnecessarily.
Tell Gateshead Council and the school promptly if your address, transport requirements or collection arrangements change.

Travel training
At High Heworth, students can take part in travel training when they are ready. This helps them develop the skills and confidence to travel more independently as part of their preparation for adulthood.
